Initiatives
Host an annual social event for local Osteopathic doctors.
Purpose:
- To introduce OMF to osteopathic doctors in the michiana area, explaining our purpose, outlining our initiatives and encouraging participation in OMF events.
- To announce the forgivable loan recipient(s), outline the program's purpose and solicit financial contributions from the physicians.
Organize and sponsor local CME programs and educational seminars.
Purpose: To provide a new Continuing Medical Education opportunity for local Osteopathic physicians.
Organize a speaker's bureau for area education seminars and for local career day talks to high school students.
Purpose: To explain the value and advantages of osteopathic medicine and influence student career choices. To recruit interested area D.O.'s to serve as speakers.
Coordinate the forgivable loan program for osteopathic students.
Purpose: To perpetuate and grow the practice of osteopathic medicine throughout northern Indiana by providing a forgivable loan which would be forgiven if the scholarship recipient relocates to the Michiana area.
Coordinate an E-mail newsletter.
Purpose: To inform and update osteopathic physicians on items of interest to area D.O.'s. and provide a new avenue of communication within the Michiana osteopathic community.
Design an OMF brochure.
Purpose: To introduce the Osteopathic Medical Foundation of Michiana and outline its purpose. To use as recruitment tool for bringing new D.O.'s to the Michiana area.
Recruit new members for OMF Board of Directors.
Purpose: To solicit qualified persons to serve on the board of directors, and to assist in committee endeavors designed to promote osteopathic medicine in the community. (Interested area D.O.'s or other individuals are invited to attend a board meeting)
Coordinate physician recruitment program.
Purpose: To perpetuate and expand the practice of osteopathic medicine in the Michiana area by offering financial incentives via Physician Recruitment Assistance to new physicians or small private practices wishing to recruit new physicians to the Michiana community.
Develop website and D.O. Database
Purpose: Develop informative and useful website as well as current searchable database of area D.O.’s
